Our AI LAB

Experimenting with AI, tools and smarter workflows.

Artificial intelligence is changing more than the way we create images and content. It is changing how we research, analyse information, structure processes and turn ideas into useful tools.

As part of our work in Visual Communications, we are exploring how AI can be integrated into real-world workflows — not as a gimmick, but as a practical instrument for making complex tasks faster, clearer and more accessible.

Some of these experiments develop into small applications of their own. We make selected tools available here to use and experiment with online. They are working projects rather than finished commercial products, and we welcome feedback from people who put them to use.

The broader objective is to understand where AI genuinely improves a process, where human expertise remains essential, and how the two can be combined into better workflows.

Information Design

Visual Communication → Information Design → AI-assisted workflows → purpose-built tools

From complexity to clarity — a process that starts with a real problem, identifies the information and calculations required, structures the workflow, uses AI to help build it, and then creates an interface that makes the result understandable.

Visual Communication has traditionally been about making ideas visible and understandable. Information Design takes this one step further: it identifies what information actually matters, how different pieces relate to each other, and how they should be structured so that people can understand them, work with them and make better decisions.

Making cause and effect visible is a central part of this approach. Complex decisions are rarely based on isolated numbers: change one assumption and other results change with it. We want users to see these relationships rather than hide them behind a calculation. What happens if interest rates rise? If costs increase? If productivity decreases? By making dependencies, consequences and sensitivities visible, Information Design turns a result from a static number into something that can be explored and understood. The objective is not simply to provide an answer, but to show why the answer changes when the underlying assumptions change.

The result can be a calculator, an analytical dashboard, a decision-support tool, an automated workflow or a small application built around a very specific problem.

REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT & VALUATION

Property valuation, financing and investment analysis

A bilingual analytical tool combining German property valuation methods, international investment analysis, financing calculations and an independent Finance Math toolbox.

This didn’t start with “let’s make an AI app.” It started with “I need a better way to analyse a real-estate investment.
